Born and raised in the super small town of Saint Thomas, Pennsylvania, Shannon knew life on a “mini farm” as she would like to call it. True to the country living- on 10 acres of land, with chickens, cows and the occasional pigeons wouldn’t have been out of place for her growing up.
Her artistry began around the age of 12, when she became influenced by Taylor Swift, reading articles, watching videos, and all of this sparked the idea in her to start writing. Piano lessons taught her to pull out little melodies and combine them with her lyrics. She was never satisfied with the piano though so she taught herself guitar. The idea being if Taylor could then she could. 12 year old Shannon picked up her old cousins Aria guitar and began practicing for hours a day. Soon, she was writing multiple little songs/lyric ideas daily. Most of them were growing pains but that is how we all start.
To gain experience she began to perform at local fairs and karaoke contests, sometimes winning and sometimes learning from the experience. The experiences paid off as high school approached. It was a time in her life when writing started to finally come around. She began writing every night, sometimes writing a few songs a day. Crushes, bullies, relationships and everyday life as a young teenager was finally giving her something to write about! This was a very exciting growth point in her early career.
She saw how every situation in life was a song and how those songs would become a show. Ready to perform for the public she entered the sophomore talent show. It pushed her limits, singing songs from the heart made her open up to all of those who watched and her gift led her to win.
A natural on stage, a true performer and artist. She shares her songs for all to hear. At that moment there was no turning back she knew this was her career choice for life. Her degree in college was vocal performance, which entitled being primarily classically trained (ask her to sing Opera,) When asked about the experience, Shannon says, “Honestly, one of the best decisions I have made in my life,” the vocal training she received has helped her in the long run.
College brought a maturity in her writing, mostly based off of heartbreak, but through that she has found ways to heal within songwriting. She views this healing as a healthy way to go through these pains. Three weeks after graduating college, May, 2019 she packed up and headed to Nashville, TN.
Her fans enjoy the fact that she has an open heart and her songs reach such a vulnerability. She is a true Country/Americana artist. Her upcoming projects to be released include an EP in the late summer/early fall of 2020. She is super excited to share these songs with you and to be very involved in the creativeness of this project. Shannon Quinn has a lot to offer so watch out!
